Orcaa · founded in Cairo, 2025

The whole business in one place, built by one person who kept meeting the same owners

The gap

For years he built enterprise management systems for other companies: platforms that run residential communities, and clinic systems that handle patients, appointments and records. The software worked, but it was built for organisations with budgets and IT teams.

The independent businesses he met had the same problems and none of the budget. A salon owner, a physician running a two room clinic, a lawyer tracking cases in a spreadsheet: all of them were quoted enterprise prices for enterprise complexity, and all of them went back to paper.

Orcaa is the answer to that gap. One platform that runs the whole business, priced for a business that has an owner rather than a procurement department.

What it runs

13 business types, 22 modules an owner switches on

Every capability is a module. A café switches on tables and QR ordering, a dental clinic switches on charting and clinical records, a supermarket switches on point of sale and production. The core stays the same.

How it is built

End to end, by one engineer, in the open

The stack is chosen for how it behaves under a busy counter at noon, not for how it reads on a slide. Everything below is what actually runs.

Backend

Laravel on Octane and RoadRunner

A multi-tenant Laravel backend with PostgreSQL and Redis, WebSockets for live updates, role based access owners define themselves, and per-tenant encryption of sensitive data.

Apps

React on every screen owners use

Web apps for owners, staff and customers, desktop clients for Windows, macOS and Linux, and an Android app. The point of sale keeps selling when the internet does not.

Operations

Deployed without downtime, watched in public

Docker and Nginx on Ubuntu with GitHub Actions rollouts, daily off-site backups, and a public status page that reports every component in real time.

Gigx

A co-pilot inside the product

Gigx is Orcaa's assistant, a co-pilot that gets things done with you: it answers questions about the business from its real data and carries out tasks on the pages where the work happens.

Milestones

From a first paying business to a second generation

  1. 2025

    Founded in Cairo

Orcaa starts as the platform he wished his earlier clients had had: everything in one place, fairly priced, with support that understands how independent businesses work.

  2. 2025

    The first paying businesses

Clinics, gyms and salons across Egypt come aboard in the first year, each one adding a request that becomes part of the product.

  3. 2026

    Generation 2

Orcaa ships generations, not versions. The second generation added retail and dining verticals, offline mode across the whole system, and Gigx, alongside the desktop and mobile clients.
